By Bufete Mejía & Asociados

The United Nations SDG Investment Fair promotes high impact sustainable development projects in emerging and frontier markets. It is a platform for connecting investors, private and public institutions, and representatives from UN agencies to facilitate dealmaking in investment projects that advance the Sustainable Development Goals.
The 2023 SDG Investment Fair took place in April and featured:
-Live pitches of investment opportunities by participating countries;
-Thematic policy dialogues;
-Networking opportunities amongst project sponsors, investors, and other SDG investing experts.
Honduras was one of six countries that presented investment opportunities with the participation of its Ministry of Investment. The pitched offered several investment opportunities across various sectors such as Tourism and Hospitality, Agribusiness, Manufacturing and Exporting, Renewable Energy, Infrastructure Development, Real Estate and Construction, Mining and Natural Resources.
Honduras contains all the ingredients for a thriving, prosperous economy: strategic location next to U.S. markets with a deep-water port, a rich endowment of natural resources, breathtaking tourist destinations, and hard-working people, including a significant cadre of skilled labor.
The legal framework for investment includes the Honduran constitution, the investment chapter of CAFTA-DR (which takes precedence over most domestic law), and the 2011 Law for the Promotion and Protection of Investments.
