The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Uruguay celebrated an advancement in their collaborative efforts to promote innovation. IDB President Ilan Goldfajn and Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou inaugurated the new laboratory for the Food and Human Health Program (PAyS).
PAyS is an academic initiative featuring over 600 square meters of advanced laboratory space and a team of around 30 specialists from various disciplines. Its mission is to explore the relationship between food and health through interdisciplinary science.
The program aims to train skilled professionals and generate scientific knowledge about food's impact on human health, addressing both domestic market needs and export opportunities. As part of this initiative, Uruguay has launched its first master’s degree in Food Science and Human Health, equipping specialists to research and develop innovative solutions in these fields.
