The report carried out by the Argentinian Chamber of Commerce explains that the growth is due to an increase of illegal vendors in stations, squares, avenues and streets, mainly the Avellaneda and Rivadavia Avenues, two of the principal thoroughfares in Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires had in June an average density of 15.7 illegal vendors per block, 1.4 more than in May. Avellaneda Avenue, with 100 points per block, was the street with the largest number; pedestrian street Peru was ranked second with 47.5 and Pueyrredón Avenue third with 39.7. Corrientes Avenue (9.7 points per block) Santa Fe Avenue (3.8) and Cordoba Avenue (3.4) completed the ranking.
Among the most traded items were clothing and footwear, lenses and eyeglasses, photo cameras, watches and jewelery. Most of them were counterfeited products as the report found a total of 1.167 piracy cases, an increase of 52.7% from 2014 which represented the thirteenth consecutive interannual growth.
