Indecopi signs agreement to strengthen respect for copyright in the software industry

The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) of Peru, and the Peruvian Association of Software and Technologies (Apesoft) signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement aimed to carry out joint actions for the promotion, education, training and consultancy of copyright in the software industry.

The agreement commits both institutions to lend technical support within its powers to promote and implement any project or action to strengthen and develop values ​​and respect for copyright in the software industry.

With that goal in mind, Indecopi and Apesoft will organize trainings, lectures and joint academic activities related to the protection of intellectual property.

Hebert Tassano, president of Indecopi´s board of directors, stressed that the agreement allows the build up of a culture of respect for copyright in Peru, as well as the formalization of the legal use of software in the country, a chapter in which the institution is working heavily.

Meanwhile, Juan José Manuel Miranda del Solar, president of Apesoft, said that the alliance further consolidates the work already carried out with Indecopi regarding the protection of copyright in the software industry.
