Institutional framework to modernize customs, agriculture and migration
The presidents of the Central American Integration System (SICA, for its Spanish acronym), signed a regional strategy to facilitate trade and improve competitiveness.

At a summit held at Guatemala, heads of State from Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama agreed that customs, agriculture and migration policies must be developed throughout the region.

The countries also agreed to request the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE, for its Spanish acronym) a financing program for the modernization of border controls in Central America. The modernization should include actions on infrastructure, trade facilitation and comprehensive risk management.
