Inter Miami vs. Inter Milan

The recently formed Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise, owned among others by English former soccer star David Beckham, was sued by FC Internazionale Milano, one of Italy’s and Europe’s top soccer clubs, for supposedly infringing the trademark Inter.
Inter Miami counterclaimed that there are already several soccer clubs around the world that use the term Inter in their name, but according to the USPTO such argument did not demonstrate that either Inter Miami or the MLS have valid proprietary or ownership right in the name.
The USPTO final judgment is expected for the end of 2020.
