International symposium: New Ideas, New Research
“New Ideas, New Research” was the name of an international symposium on Internet of things and science, technology, engineering and mathematics, that took place in San Salvador from August 28 to 30.

Aimed at entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, researchers, academic administrators, teachers, universities, engineers of Investigation and Development and patent lawyers in related sectors from all Latin America and the Caribbean, the symposium proposed a broad dialogue between the university and business community on new topics for building new agendas and lines of research.
It was organized a special alliance between the Francisco Gavidia University (UFG) and imaging and electronics company Ricoh Latin America.

"Patents are important for all countries, but El Salvador has a very low rate on the subject and in the academic world it is almost
null”, stated Óscar Picardo Joao, director of the Institute of Sciences, Technologies and Innovation of the UFG, to explain one of the causes behind the event.
