The VII Ministerial Meeting of Central America and the Dominican Republic on Intellectual Property is taking place in the Dominican Republic with the visit of Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Delegations from Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic participate in the meeting -named “Enhancing Solutions: IP as a Tool for Innovation and Sub-regional Economic Recovery”-, which looks to discuss the economic reactivation of the region after COVID-19.

With his assistance, Daren Tang shows WIPO’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Central America and building a stronger innovation ecosystem. WIPO has called for the region to implement an intellectual property-based strategy that promotes innovation and a creativity-driven economy.

Days earlier, Mr. Tang had a four-day official visit to Brazil with discussions with start-ups, entrepreneurs and enterprises on how the IP system can better support business growth.
