Jocote, Collective Trademark
As part of the closing event of Escuelas de Campo del Programa Agro Cadena, an event organized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Intellectual Property Department of the National Bureau of Registries, issued the registration certificate of the collective trademark ACOAPJSAL DE RL Jocote y Loroco San Lorenzo in the name of Cooperative of Producers of jocote baron rojo y loroco from San Lorenzo, Ahuachapán.

The mayor of San Lorenzo attended the event, as well as the FAO representative in El Salvador and the executive Director of CONAMYPE who witnessed the delivery of the mentioned registration certificate. The Director of the Intellectual Property Registry, Diana Hasbún conducted the event along with the president of the Cooperative who was very pleased with the achievement.

This is the second time a collective trademark is issued in the last semester of 2012 and the IP authorities were satisfied with the work done because small and medium businesses will realize the importance they have not only locally but also abroad by having a collective mark which advertises their products and benefits the development of their towns. Now producers will be identified as "Jocote y Loroco, San Lorenzo, un pueblo, un orgullo", contributing to the development of national and international markets.
