Uruguay generates 35% of its energy in wind energy and about 3% via solar panels. Likewise, during 2018, 97% of the electricity produced in the country was based on renewable sources, if the hydraulic energy and biomass are added.
Uruguay was located behind countries like Denmark, Lithuania and Luxembourg, being above Germany and other countries in northern Europe, while the only South American country that accompanies Uruguay among the first places is Chile, positioned in the 20th place.
