Legal action against retransmission of TV signals
With the support of the Public Ministry and the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise, a cable channels representative filed a lawsuit against an Honduran cable operator for the illegal retransmission of TV cable signals throughout the country. The actions were first taken before the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Tegucigalpa after both parties failed to reach a conciliatory solution.

Americana de Producciones S.A. (Ampro) is a Panamanian company that represents TV cable channels in Honduras and Guatemala. According to the claim, cable operators in Honduras “continuously” broadcast signals without authorization, infringing national regulations.

As many other countries in the region, Honduras is looking to address issues associated with the secondary retransmission of TV cable broadcast signals by cable operators, includng cable operator marketing, sales practices and equipments.
