With Uruguay Natural, the MIEM will try to contribute to the international economic insertion of Uruguay, improve its international image, promote the competitiveness of its exportations and solidify the productive inversions on the country. There´re also national targets, like strengthening the institutional capacity of public and private sectors in business relations.
The MIEM also highlighted the importance of emphasizing the term “natural” in a non-sustainable world with energetic problems, debates and questions, clearly stating Uruguayan´s position of looking for renewable energies and attending environmental topics.
On May 2001 the Uruguayan Presidency registered Uruguay Natural as a denominative trademark in 42 classes of the the Nice Classification, and subsequently renew it until may 2021. The Uruguayan Presidency has the righs of the sequence of terms Uruguay Natural but not of the isolated terms Uruguay and Natual. The phrase began as a motto to attract touristic visitors and was afterwards transformed into the Country Brand.
