Livestock traceability, key for Nicaraguan producers to open new markets

"The most expeditious way to surpass these market barriers and expand traceability throughout the country is through the SSPB”, said Onel Pérez, executive director of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Beef Exporters (Canicarne). The system sets certain processes, procedures and methods during all the production chain, forcing breeding farms, feedlots, transports and industrial establishments to comply with national and international legislation for exporting meat and beef products to markets that require more rigid mesures.
The acceleration for the project needs a USD 1.6 million investment that will be contributed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Canicarne.
