LL Cool J asks for an injunction against a hip hop festival

Released in1985, Rock the Bells is the third single from LL Cool J’s debut album, Radio. Rock the Bells was also the name of an annual hip-hop festival that, from 2004 to 2013, toured originally in Southern California and then throughout the world.
Although in 2004 Guerrilla Union was granted the trademark registration for Rock the Bells from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), LL Cool J successfully petitioned to cancel the trademark and has since then filed 11 applications for Rock the Bells in various classes, all of which have been granted by the USPTO or are pending.
Nevertheless, the musician claims in its lawsuit that Guerrilla Union continues using Rock the Bells on a website and social media, likely deceiving consumers that he is somehow affiliated with the music festival. LL Cool J asks for an injunction, profits, punitive damages and attorney’s fees, among other remedies.
