MAC Trademark Declared Notorious for Vehicle Batteries

The Superintendency of Industry and Commerce of Colombia,, upon request from VERA ABOGADOS, has declared the notoriety of the MAC trademark for identifying "vehicle batteries," products falling under class nine (9) of the Nice Classification.
Notorious trademarks become an added value for its holder, as they can be valued both legally and economically. The notoriety extends to all countries within the Andean Community.
No individual or legal entity may use a sign that causes confusion with the MAC trademark, either in its entirety or in an essential part, or a reproduction, imitation, translation, or transliteration of the sign that is likely to create confusion regarding identical or similar establishments, activities, goods, or services to which it applies.
This recognition of notorious trademark status is a reward for the significant effort made by its holder to promote and sell the MAC trademark. It serves as evidence of the high distinctiveness of the sign and the quality of the products identified with said notorious mark.
