Marcatón, promoting innovation through intellectual property

The National Center for Registries of El Salvador (CNR), through its Intellectual Property Office, launched the second edition of  Marcatón, a contest created to support entrepreneurs, creators and businessmen in the development of their trademarks, from their design to the registration and commercialization. 

The contest is part of the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) that the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI) has installed globally.

TISC, and events like Marcatón, provides innovators in developing countries with access to locally based, high quality technology information and related services, helping them to exploit their innovative potential and to create, protect, and manage their intellectual property (IP) rights.

Services offered may include:

-Basic information on industrial property laws.
-Basic information on industrial property management and strategy.
-Basic information on technology commercialization and marketing.
-Provision of WIPO information materials and publications regarding intellectual property rights, technology searches, licensing, enforcement of IP rights.
