Massive operation against piracy and smuggling

On March 9, the Public Ministry (MP, for its Spanish acronym) of Honduras carried out in different departments of the country a massive operation called "Garfio", with the goal of combating smuggling and crimes against health, the Consumer Protection Law and Intellectual Property, such as counterfeiting of trademarks, goods and services.

The actions were held in the departments of Francisco Morazán, Cortés, Comayagua, Atlántida and Islas de la Bahía. More than 60 establishments were inspected, including warehouses, restaurants, food centers and fashion shops, among others. The main findings were related to unhealthy food conditions and seizures of several clothing items like wallets, handbags, purses and sportswear.
