Miel del Chaco Chuquisaqueño collective mark is launched
By PPO Abogados
On February 19, 2024, the newly created collective mark Miel del Chaco Chuquisaqueño was officially launched in La Paz, Bolivia. The launch event celebrated the registration of the collective mark of the local association of producers (Asociación Regional de Apicultores del Chaco Chuquisaqueño) with the national IP Office (Senapi) in Bolivia.
The members of the association, who produce honey in the Chaco Chuquisaqueño region, will be able to better position their products in the global market through the use of the collective mark. During the event discussions revolved around the process of developing and registering the collective mark, the importance of this IP tool for product commercialization and market access, and the future outlook for the Miel del Chaco Chuquisaqueño collective mark.
This mark signifies that the honey comes from the Chaco region, likely boasting unique characteristics due to the dry Chaco ecosystem. Since the area has minimal traditional agriculture, the honey is likely produced with minimal exposure to agrochemicals. By working together under the Miel del Chaco Chuquisaqueño brand, these beekeepers aim to position their high-quality honey in the Bolivian market and potentially even export it, highlighting the unique taste and properties it may have from its specific origin.
