The Customs Administration of Bolivia opened in the city of La Paz a new contact center for Authorized Economic Operators (AEO). The center will support nine communication channels: in-person service, toll-free number, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram, TikTok and LinkedIn.In December, the Customs Administration held a workshop to gain first-hand insights on the AEO programmes that are carried out in Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay.
The AEO is defined as a party involved in the international movement of goods in whatever function that has been approved by or on behalf of a national customs administration as complying with World Customs Organization (WCO) or equivalent supply chain security standards.
It is a partnership programme that many Customs administrations are pursuing as a means to both secure and facilitate global trade, by providing incentives/benefits to both Customs and traders that have decided to work in partnership to improve supply chain security.
The AEO concept is based on the Customs-to-Business partnership introduced by the WCO. Traders who voluntarily meet a range of criteria work in close cooperation with customs authorities to assure the common objective of supply chain security are entitled to enjoy benefits.
