New national flag carrier

The purchase of Russian aircraft and the expansion of the runway and facilities of the Augusto C. Sandino Airport of Managua are the main cooperations included in an agreement of at least between 250 and 300 million dollars, explained Laureano Ortega, presidential adviser for investment.
Nicaragua does not have a national flag carrier since the 1992, when Aeronica was taken over by a Centro American consortium. The airline, founded in 1981, operated from Managua scheduled passenger flights within Central America, as well as to Mexico City and the United States
