New Technology and Innovation Support Center

The Intellectual Property Registry of Guatemala and the Engineering College of the Rafael Landívar University signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement to create a technology and innovation support center to stimulate inventiveness and the creation of scientific, technological, literary and artistic works.Called “CATI-RPI PERIFÉRICO URL-INDIS”, the new center will be located at the university carry out training programs on intellectual property issues at a national, regional and international level, in order to develop and stimulate research and the launching of new commercial services and products for the national economy.
In addition, the agreement seeks to promote strategies to motivate the members of the academic units of the Rafael Landívar University to register their creations at the Intellectual Property Registry.
This technology and innovation support senter joins similar ones located in the universities of San Carlos de Guatemala, Galileo, InterNaciones and institutions such as the National Secretariat of Science and Technology of Guatemala (SENACYT).
The centers look to offer access to scientific and technical resources and IP-related publications; assistance in searching and retrieving technology information; and basic information on industrial property laws, technology commercialization and marketing.
