Nicaragua celebrates port security

“Taking into account the quality standards and certification proceedings of our 14 ports, we are positioned third in the world in port security, only behind Israel and the United States”, said Nery Sánchez, director of Port Security of the National Ports Company, a State port company engaged in port activities related to shipping, navigation, transportation of passengers and goods and storage of goods.

Sánchez speech came during the V Seminar on Maritime Port Security, organized in February with the participation of port representatives of all the region. He referred to a report by the International Maritime Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations which states the global standard-setting authority for the safety, security and environmental performance of international shipping.

"The third position of Nicaragua in the report allows us to see the degree of industrialization of the country and its improvement in the time for loading and unloading of merchandise”, Sánchez added.
