In the past months the Central America-4 (CA-4) Border Control Agreement has taken steps to decisively push a regional Customs Union. The CA-4 is a treaty signed in June 2006 between the Central American nations of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, establishing the free movement across borders between the four signatory states of their citizens without any restrictions or checks.
"We hope that Nicaragua, El Salvador and the rest of the countries are incorporated to the Custons Union. It's something historic and we are working for the negotiation process to reach an end", said the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Honduras, María Dolores Agüero Lara.
