In the gastronomic industry, American restaurant chain Hooters opened its doors in Nicaragua on November 1, generating 75 direct jobs, while also American fast food giant Carl's Jr will soon open three restaurants in the country with an estimated investment of USD 1.7 million.
In the hospitality industry, Latam Hotel Corporation has built and inaugurated on March 2016 the Hyatt Place Hotel in capital Managua, located 15 minutes from the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport and serving as a top destiny for businessmen and executives.
Close to the hotel, the Santo Domingo Galleries finished last year a third stage of construction that allowed several fashion luxury brands to join the shopping center: Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Pull & Bear, Bally, Facconable, Columbia, Puma, iShop, Calvin Klein, Levi's, Dockers and Crocs, among others.
¿Which are the reasons behind such movements? Growth of the Nicaraguan GDP is one of them: trade accounted for 11.6% of the GDP in 2015, only below construction. "It is part of what has been promoted, of what has been worked. We are a trendy country right now", said Rosendo Mayorga, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Nicaragua.
