Nicaragua goes forward to joining TPP

“This is important because it’s a new-generation agreement covering larger markets than any other agreement Nicaragua has”, said Mario Arana, executive director of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua (APEN, for its acronym in Spanish). “It opens up new investment opportunities as it allows simpler rules, as well as being part of chains of new supplies. It also opens opportunities in Asia, an expanding market that is likely to be the world’s engine of growth in the coming years", he added.
The TPP is a trade agreement among twelve Pacific Rim countries signed on 4 February 2016 in Auckland, New Zealand, after seven years of negotiations. It has not entered into force. The member countries are Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, United States and Vietnam.
