Nicaragua leads the region in Global Gender Gap Index

Iceland, Norway, Finland, Rwanda and Sweden are the best five positioned countries in the world, with Nicaragua ranked Nº6, for the first time in the top 10 and by a long distance the best Latin America and Caribbean country on gender gap. "With an average remaining gender gap of 29.8%, the Latin America and Caribbean region scores in the middle of the range of the Global Gender Gap Index, behind the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region. The region is home to one of the fastest-improving countries in the world since 2006: Nicaragua, which continue to lead the regional rankings", states the report, which also highlights that Nicaragua is among the 6 countries that has managed to close the gender gap by more than 80%.
