According to Rosario Murillo, coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Council, the Executive already sent the proposal to the Superior Council of the Private Enterprise (Cosep), so that a discussion can quickly begun between businessmen.
"Nicaragua will have to continue to open markets around the world to support workers, farmers, producers, businessmen and entrepreneurs, in all their proposals and initiatives, so they can be more efficient, productive and competitive", said Murillo to EFE.
Meanwhile, the head of Cosep, José Adan Aguerri, explained that joining the TPP would not pull apart Nicaragua from the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR).
The TPP is a trade agreement among twelve Pacific Rim countries signed on February 2016 after seven years of negotiation. Their current members are Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, United States and Vietnam.
