ISO 5001: 2011 specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system, whose purpose is to enable an organization to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy security, energy use and consumption. The standard aims to help organizations continually reduce their energy use, and therefore their energy costs and their greenhouse gas emissions.
The companies participating in the Nicaraguan Chamber of Industries workshop shared their experiences in the application of such system in varying industries such as food, plastics and energy,
During the workshop a visit was made to Sajonia’s Estate Coffee main plant, broadening knowledge among participants as they were able to ask questions and receive advice from a company that, due to its level of innovation in the field, has already identify areas of need and opportunities.
