Operation against IP crimes

On August 2, 2019, the Honduran government started a special operation focused in preventing and combating intellectual property crimes at a national level. Called PITCO, the operation main spotlight are inspections at customs offices, hospitals, pharmacies, mobile companies, cable companies, warehouses, food stores and food processing companies.

The goal is to detect products which may represent a risk to public health and the national economy, mainly counterfeited, smuggled or expired products, or products without its corresponding licenses and authorizations.

The tasks were coordinated by the Public Ministry through the Office of Intellectual Property and Information Security (FEPROSI), the Special Office Against Tax Related Crimes (FE-DTC) and the Office for Consumer Protection of Senior Citizens (FEPCAM).
