Paraguay, among the first countries to present its climate transparency report
By BKM | Berkemeyer

Paraguay has become one of the first countries in the region to present its First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR), highlighting the nation’s progress in climate transparency, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, adaptation, and mitigation.
The report’s presentation, facilitated by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (Mades), reaffirms the country’s commitment to climate action.
The presentation of the 1BTR signifies a major milestone for Paraguay, particularly given the challenges posed by the new reporting formats, including standard reporting tables for all parties:
-National greenhouse gas inventory: Enhanced, comprehensive, comparable, and updated information.
-Advances in adaptation and vulnerability: Measures taken to strengthen the country’s resilience to the effects of climate change.
-Mitigation and nationally determined contributions (NDCs): Progress in fulfilling commitments in alignment with the Paris Agreement.
-Support received: Details on financing, technology, and capacity-building efforts under the Paris Agreement.
Under the Enhanced Transparency Framework, Parties to the Paris Agreement are required to submit biennial transparency reports (BTR) every two years, with the first submission due by 31 December 2024. According to the modalities, procedures and guidelines (MPGs) for the Enhanced Transparency Framework include information on national inventory reports (NIR), progress towards NDCs, policies and measures, climate change impacts and adaptation, levels of financial, technology development and transfer and capacity-building support, capacity-building needs and areas of improvement.
