Paraguay is the major net exporter of electricity worldwide

Unlike tangible statistics, international trade in electricity is measured in different ways depending on the country due to the fact that some consider them as good and others as service exportation

The digital Almanac of the CIA (CIA Factbook) compiles estimates of electricity annual export and import from different countries. Paraguay with its binational hydroelectrics, Itaipu and Yacyretá, besides its domestic dam Acaray, is placed in the almanac as the major net electricity exporter.
