Paraguay´s new project for classification and labeling of chemicals

An agreement was signed between the Secretary of Environment and the National University of Asunción, which would be responsible for strengthening the work of technological research laboratories.
A key component isthe strengthening of local analytical capabilities of chemical substances in laboratories available for this project.
The project of implementing the Globally Harmonized system of classification will be a tool for the environmentally sound management of chemicals, which arose with the need to use them to improve the quality of life without compromising the environment in Paraguay.
Secretary of Environment Oscar Rivas stated that the principles governing this initiative aims at the sustainability of development and international programs to improve health, provide security to citizenship and protect environmental quality in Paraguay and the region.
Paraguay recognizes the benefits of a harmonized system and its application would protect human health and environmental quality.
