Patagonia trademark on dispute

The Chamber of Exporting Wineries from Patagonia, Argentina, warned Concha y Toro and Patagonia Inc. on trademark infringement claims related to its trademark Patagonia.Patagonia has been officially recognized as an Argentinian Geographical Indication since 2002, allowing the exclusive use of the brand to the region's wine producers.
The Chamber argues that such GI has been recently infringed by two international companies who have make “profit from the prestige and commercial achievement from Patagonia’s wine producers”. Concha y Toro is the largest producer and exporter of wines from Latin America, while U.S. clothing brand Patagonia Inc. announced in 2021 that it's expanding into wine, cider and sake sales
"For more than 50 years, the wine producers of the Patagonian region have developed a characteristic product which has gained a large market both in Argentina and abroad,” the Chamber stated in a press release. "This effort involves the investment of considerable legal resources to protect a brand that we consider a heritage not only of Patagonia’s wineries but of Argentina,” it adds.
