Patenta Universidad, the new tool for academics and researchers
The National Institute for Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) of Peru has made available for all academic and research organizations a new free tool called "Patenta Universidad" (Patenta University). The purpose is to promote among the top research centers of the country the knowledge and use of the patent system, and solidify their commitment to innovation.

"Patenta Universidad" is open to all universities, high academic institutions or research organizations who have not used recurrently the Peruvian patent system in the last five years, but who nevertheless have generated a significant amount of research projects or technological innovations that can be evaluated by the experts of the Directorate of Inventions and New Technologies (DIN) of Indecopi.

The program will be developed in each of those institutions for a period of four months, during which the DIN experts will conduct information sessions and lectures about patents. The experts will also identify patentable projects, carry out patentability analysis and advice on the drafting of the application documents and on the patent application.
