Peru and LaLiga sign agreement to decrease soccer piracy

Recently and with the backing of the Alliance against pay-TV piracy (Alianza), Indecopi ordered the blocking of six websites that illegally broadcast matches of LaLiga, the Association responsible for administering the two professional soccer leagues in Spain. “The granting of these measures by Indecopi is an important success story in the battle against audiovisual piracy in Latin America and will serve to consolidate the status of the blocking of access as a means to combating piracy”, LaLiga stated in a press release. “This could see a precedent established that would allow offending websites that are similar in nature to be included in the same operation and therefore speed up the whole process. The measure has been promptly implemented by Peru's leading internet service providers”.
