Peru and the EU advance in online consultation tools

Peru and the European Union signed a memorandum of understanding for technical cooperation in Intellectual Property matters, an agreement that, besides of its technical benefits, calls both parties for efforts to achieve a greater efficiency in the protection of trademark rights and to promote awareness of IP.

The memorandum was signed in the city of Lima by Ivo Gagliuffi, president of the Peruvian National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi), and Javier Moreno, director for International Cooperation Service on the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The international alliance focuses on aspects related to the development of information technologies in patents and trademarks, allowing Indecopi to be now part of the EU international systems TMview and Designview.

TMview is a multilingual and easy-to-use online consultation tool for searching the trademarks of all its participating official trademark offices. Designview is also a multilingual and easy-to-use online consultation tool but for searching the designs of all its participating offices.
