By Espinosa Bellido Abogados

The commission, chaired by the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) and supported by Peruvian embassies, acted in a total of 67 cases of biopiracy in IP offices throughout the world, with 45 favorably solved and 18 in current legal processes. Such figure represents an increase of 91% in comparison to 2017, when the commission detected a total of 35 cases.
Among the most notable cases of last year were those ones related to the tara in Taiwan, the pasuchaca in Japan and the dragon's blood in the European Union, Korea and several North and South American countries.
