Peru protects the 2019 Pan American Games trademarks
During the 2019 Pan American Games, the National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) carried out several operations to avoid the commercialization of counterfeited products related to the event.
Indecopi’s Supervision Department inspected, fined and closed several commerces in Lima, home of the games, where products such as cups, stickers, toys, dolls, towels and T-shirts were sold infringing the trademark licenses granted by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO).

The PASO, affiliated with the International Olympic Committee, registered the trademarks 2019 Pan American Games, XVIII Pan American Games, Lima 2019, the official logo of the event -inspired by the indigenous flower amancay- and the official mascot Milco, inspired by Cuchimilco sculptures.

The Pan American Games are a major sporting event held among athletes from nations of the Americas every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games. The 2019 edition was held in Lima from July 26 to August 11, 2019. The Parapan American Games, for athletes with physical disabilities, will also be organized in Lima through September 2019.
