Peru will boost innovation through GDP
By Espinosa Bellido Abogados

According to the Minister of Production, Raúl Pérez-Reyes, 1% of Peru’s GDP represents approximately USD 3,000 million, a figure that would position the country closer to the innovation investment levels of regional references in the matter like Chile and Colombia. "If you look at the region, we see that other countries allocate about 1% of their GDP to innovation. We are far from that”, Pérez-Reyes said to El Peruano.
However, the Minister stressed that Peru is able to double its public innovation projects for 2021, exploiting its many natural resources while incorporating new technologies.
Pérez-Reyes participated at StartUp Perú 2019, this year’s edition of a startup competition sponsored by the Peruvian government which provides funding to more than 350 local startups.
