Peru’s IP development recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Ivo Gagliuffi, President of the Board of Directors of Peru’s IP Office (Indecopi), was named as an IP Champion by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center. “This is the result of a great effort that aims to lay the guidelines that will allow the Peruvian society to fully respect, value and take advantage of the intellectual property system”, Gagliuffi said.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center works around the world to champion innovation and creativity through intellectual property standards that create jobs, advance global economic and cultural prosperity, and generate breakthrough solutions to global challenges. Its IP Champion award recognizes leading innovators, creators and policymakers.

During his acknowledgments, Gagliuffi stated that Indecopi aims to achieve 800 national patent applications per year, a figure that will position the country at similar levels of Chile, Colombia and Mexico.
