The Korea International Women's Invention Exposition 2021 (KIWIE) will take place on September 2021 with the participation of 34 inventions developed by Peruvian researchers and inventors.According to the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Property Protection Intellectual (Indecopi) of Peru, the 34 national inventions involve a total of 49 female inventors, either individually or in teams. Some of the inventions are a face mask with dewlap reducer, a portable hand washing water dissenting device, a device for opening and closing of containers, a neonatal bubble with airway pressurizer and a wearable electronic alarm for personal safety.
"All Peruvian inventions that will be showcased at KIWIE 2021 have been resorting to the national patent system to obtain the exclusive intellectual property rights that will allow the creators to protect and commercialize their creations,” said Manuel Castro, Director of Inventions and New Technologies at Indecopi.
Organized by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and supported by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), KIWIE looks to increase the interest in invention activities by women and strengthening the foundation for women invention by facilitating the exchange of women inventors at Korea and abroad establishing a global network.
KIWIE evaluates and award patent technologies and inventions, promoting outstanding inventions developed by women and their distribution.
This year, corresponding to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be streamed online as it would be challenging to invite all delegations to Korea under circumstances such as international travel restrictions and the Special Entry Procedure of Korea.
