Peruvian craftsmen seek to boost their creations

The president of the Adex Craft Committee, Orlando Vásquez, told newspaper Gestión that 10 Peruvian craft companies created the collective brand, which carries a specific image, graphic and communication strategy to back up the values that characterize Peruvian crafts. Collective marks are usually defined as signs which distinguish the geographical origin, material, mode of manufacture or other common characteristics of goods or services of different enterprises using the collective mark.
"Our plan of action includes participating in national and international fairs and trade missions, among others things", said Vásquez, highlighting the strengths of Peruvian crafts as handmade products made with excellence, quality, innovative designs and experience accumulated over decades of work.
In the first quarter of 2017, Peruvian crafts added total exports for USD 7.8 million, a 13% decrease compared to the same period of 2016. The United States, with 54% of the exports, and New Zealand, with 8%, were the top two destinations.
