Peruvian Customs welcomes WCO support on Data Analytics

From 27-28 October 2020, the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), in collaboration with the CCF Korea, held a virtual workshop on Data Analytics for the Tax and Customs Administration of Peru.

During the workshop, the WCO introduced the concept of Data Analytics and its efforts on developing a capacity building framework on this topic, providing the participants with a comprehensive and holistic overview of data collection from numerous sources (declarations, commercial and public databases, as well as open source information platforms), while presenting both data categorization and data verification. The WCO team emphasized the importance of utilizing data, explaining how data analysis facilitates for the legal trade and enhance control of cargo, by improving risk identification and profiling process, to mention a few.

The Tax and Customs Administration of Peru appreciated this activity and together with the experts identified next steps to further cooperate in order to strengthen data analytics nationally and regionally.
