Peruvian fashion exceeds USD 700 million in exports

The exports of the Peruvian textile industry continue to recover progressively and have registered growth between January and August 2021. This means more than USD 722 million in foreign business, which far exceeds the 2019 figures, before the COVID-19 pandemic.According to official figures of the Association of Exporters (ADEX) this year, from January to August, Peruvian exports in total have exceeded USD 34,197 million, which is equivalent to an increase of 45.1% compared to the same period of 2020.
Peruvian textile industry has been performing several activities and events and Peru and worldwide, virtual and face-to-face, with the purpose to continue promoting its trade and internationalization. Events such as Perú Moda, Perú Moda Deco, Alpaca Fiesta and more continue to carry out important negotiations for the active recovery of the sector.
At the departmental level, Lima ranks as the main textile exporter, with USD 584 million in shipments, 74.8% more than the USD 197 million registered from January to July 2020, which represents 68.9% of exports textiles. In second place is Arequipa, with USD 117 million, a growth of 101.5%. It is followed by Ica, with USD 105 million (+ 106.9%) and 12.3% of shipments.
