Pokémon GO, a worldwide and Nicaraguan phenomenon

"Daily, we see so many people playing in the streets that we understood it would be a great idea to put on events that gather all the fans in one place. That was our main motivation", explained to La Prensa newspaper Eli Sánchez, one of the organizers of the first Nicaraguan Pokémon GO meeting, carried out on July 17 at the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Park of Managua.
Pokémon GO is a free-to-play, location-based augmented reality game developed by Niantic and owned in part by Nintendo. In the game, players use a mobile device's GPS capability to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, who appear on the screen as if they were in the same real-world location as the player.
Nintendo's market value increased by US$9 billion within five days of release of Pokémon GO, in July.
