Portal & Asociados organizes training session with customs, prosecutors and police personnel

Portal & Asociados carried out a training session with members of well-known national and international brands, the Office of the Attorney General (FGR), the customs directorate (DGA) and the National Civil Police (PNC), to improve the protection of intellectual property throughout the country. The activity was organized together with React, a non-profit organization with over 28 years experience in fighting the trade in counterfeits.

"The production and distribution of counterfeited products has a negative impact in a country’s economy. They do not comply with security regulations, they do not have a post-sale guarantee, they reduce profits, jobs and investments”, said Edy Portal, Chair of Portal & Asociados Intellectual Property Department and React’s representative in El Salvador. Portal highlighted the work that the FGR has donde in the last years to enforce IP rights, acknowledging that more resources are needed.
