Private sector job creation through the United States

By Bufete Mejía & Asociados

Job creators of Honduras and Founding Members of the HUGE (Honduras, USA, Guatemala, and El Salvador) Business and Investment Council applaud President Biden’s Root Causes Strategy and the Call to Action. “We reaffirm the international community that we want to work together in strengthening institutions, providing sustainable solutions to minimize negative impacts on the environment and in creating opportunities for people to have the American Dream at home, as well as consolidating the economic ties between the Northern Triangle countries and the USA,” stated HUGE in a ress release.

HUGE, a non-profit 501(c)(6) based in Washington, DC, is bringing economic prosperity to the Northern Triangle through private sector investment and has proudly assembled an inventory of nine projects in its first year, thanks to the leadership of its Founding members. This $1.88 billion will create approximately 160,000 new jobs in the Northern Triangle region and the United States. This brings total investment in the region to $2.7 billion. Investments in manufacturing facilities, competitive energy, US 5G technology, roads, ports, education, and technology are key priorities.

“HUGE business leaders from Honduras are committed to an inclusive and sustainable way of creating opportunities for all and are ready to continue to work together with the USA and newly elected President Xiomara Castro,” said HUGE’s Executive Director, Greg Huger.

COVID and economic tensions between the US and China have created new opportunities for manufacturing, as well as other trade, logistics and industrial activities to move from Asia to our region.

Daniel Facusse, President of the Board of Directors of Caracol Knits and HUGE Founder also confirmed, “HUGE is developing three new state of the art yarn plants that will process 100% USA cotton integrating the textile supply chain of the Americas and making the region self-sufficient in Ring Spun Yarn, which previously mainly came from Asia. This is an example of how a successful partnership between the USA and Honduras can create sustainable jobs.”

“History has shown us that when the private sector, public sector and civil society have a common goal, stronger and long-lasting relationships can be produced,” stated from Washington, DC, Dr. Juan J. Daboub, President of HUGE.
