Notable speakers at the event included Rolando Castro, CEO, Cognitiva IBM Watson Strategic Partner; Eugenio Torres, Managing Partner, Ferraiuoli LLC; Sebastian Vidal, Executive Director, Parallel18; Carola Schropp, Managing Director, Hayim Group; Maroun Khoury, Chief Scientific Officer, Cells for Cells; and Morrie Ruffin, Managing Partner, Adjuvant Partners and Managing Director, Alliance for Regenerative Medicine.
Topics covered included manufacturing in Latin America, clinical trials and the drug development cycle, and tropical diseases prevention and diagnostics, among other topics. Participants also had the opportunity to network and create connections for collaboration in the different fields they represent.
The event was successful in bringing together biopharma leaders from around the world to Puerto Rico in search of opportunities to expand their businesses in Latin America. As such, the event had a positive effect in promoting the importance of science as a key to the development and economic growth of both Puerto Rico and the rest of Latin America.
Ferraiuoli LLC
Ferraiuoli LLC (FLLC) was founded in 2003 by the late Blas Ferraiuoli-Martínez, Eugenio Torres-Oyola and María Marchand-Sánchez. This group was then joined in 2004 by Fernando J. Rovira-Rullán, thus forming the founding core of FLLC. Moreover, 17 FLLC partners have been ranked as leaders in their field by the same publication. 4 FLLC partners are ranked as leaders in Intellectual Property, no other firm has more than 2. This recognition in such a short period of time is a tribute to FLLC’s business model.
