Puno received over 200 trademark applications in 2014
In its hard work to protect intellectual property and promote its use, the Puno Regional Office of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) has received over 200 trademark applications between 2014 and so far this year.

The exact number is of 228 applications to identify goods and services such as coffee, milk, canned trout, textiles and even names of music bands. Through this processes, trademark owners differentiate their products and services in the various markets in which they compete.

Located in southeastern Peru on the shore of Lake Titicaca, Puno is one of the most important commercial regions of the country. Alongside other regions of Peru, in the last years it has been part of several campaigns for promotion and protection of IP system and intangible assets, key factors that contribute to the development and socio-economic growth of the country as a whole.

The work includes promotion of patent system and protection of copyright as two other pillars that encourage national businesses and scientific innovation.
