Quick Patent Program launched
The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) launched the 2015 edition of its Quick Patent Program with the aim of promoting among Peruvians inventors proper use of the patent system and accelerating the application and granting of this important intellectual property tool.

The program guides national inventors (whether natural or legal persons) in the proper preparation of applications for patents or utility models. It aims at individuals who apply individually or in groups, as well as academic institutions, companies and national research centers. Nominations are received from 16 February.

Through the program a patent is granted far more quickly than in a normal procedure: in the case of invention patents time is reduced from 39 months to about 18 months, and for a utility model from 22 months to 12 months.
